SAK has completed the reconstruction and rehabilitation roads project in Bethlehem,
the work consisted of the following:

  • Rehabilitation of existing roads including excavation and replacement of existing roadway sections, asphalt concrete pavement, a new pre-cast concrete curbs, decorative paved sidewalks, retaining walls construction.

  •  Construction of new potable water distribution networks, sanitary sewage collection, storm water drainage piping, fittings, valves, manholes and other structures including construction of service connections and coordination with agencies having authorities over these.

  •  Construction of duct works for telecommunications.

  •  Excavation and backfill associated with new electric power distribution cables.

  •  Construction of a new street lighting.

  •  Construction of ancillaries and associated facilities.

Due to the nature of the project, being located in an old area with many houses aged at hundreds of years, a special care had to be taken during all construction activities.

Reasonable care had to be exercised to verify locations of existing utilities and facilities shown on the drawings to determine the presence of those not shown.

Areas, in which excavation had to be made, were thoroughly checked by visible examination for indications of underground facilities, and also checked with electronic metal and piping detection equipment.

Permissions had to be obtained from the appropriate authorities prior to the exposure of any utilities.

SAK completed such works using our own equipments which had been transferred from Gaza to Bethlehem.
